Bit noisy
Recently Brought a 2011 XC90 and absolutely love everything about it, but I’m still amazed how noisy the engine is in the car, even on tick over. I would have thought it be more refined, especially by 2011! Otherwise I still happy with it.
The car is a one owner, mint condition always serviced by Volvo. Regards Jamie |

They can be a little noisy with you head under the bonnet but on the move fairly quiet; at 75mph on the motorway ours is whisper silent - quite amazed at how such a big car can be so quiet, I am sure the Pirelli tyres help plus these 5 pot engines are very good.

Went out in mine today to forage for food. 70 feels and sounds like 40 does in our other car. I'm happy enough.

I know what you mean Jamie the engine does sound a little “old school diesel” or “agricultural” :-) compared to much more modern diesels (like the new bmw’s we have at work) the good news is that the trade off is excellent reliability.
