Towing Eye Removal:~
1997 Volvo V70:~
Could be worth noting if you do the same: ~ just done the oil change/filter prior the MOT yesterday. I normally use the type of filter removal tool as I have for the 240- not ideal for a V70 as space is restricted but it does work with limited movement each time etc. I decided to remove the towing eye to give the tool more room- it did, but initially thought that the holding nut would be captive within the chassis frame- it isn’t- it is a removable flange nut on top of the frame so if you do the same make sure that you don’t lose your nuts. A little awkward to replace but you can do it blind- the through hole also has a sort of guide bush that moves about on the frame but seems to have a top locating lug. The eye was in good condition so only required a bit of a clean-up and greased with copper slip. The car also passed the MOT! Bob. Last edited by Bob Meadows; Feb 6th, 2020 at 16:14. |

Doing fine thanks- still messing about with the two Volvo cars & the Riley! Sounds as though you still have a task with your car- I’m sure you will do it though.
The breakdown company that I recommend whenever I can is: ~ https://autoaidbreakdown.co.uk/ Auto-Aid- can’t fault them for quite a number of reasons; hope all is well with you. Best Regards Bob. |

Cheers Bob you are a star !
Sadly my problem is just not enough hours in the day and even if I was not doing a 16 hour shift today bugger me was it cold - hardly cambelt change weather ! Good to read your beauty sailed the Mot - so did my two in December, Saffy of course due in April and I have no doubt the Scouse Mot on her is as bent as a 9 bob note - if yoo will pardon the pun ! All the best |

And believe it or not, Simon the sellers lad still keeps in touch, seemingly fascinated by the lack of progress on the ol girl
Just joined Autoaid - as previously indicated, shocking level of service from RAC with eye watering prices to boot - I shall never join them again |
