RE: Vague Steering on 2001 v70 with Almathea wheels
Hi all
Re the auto changing down on long downhill roads. Just had a long weekend in Cornwall and for the first time noticed the change down on long hills although it didnt seem to happen every time.As we dont have too many hills like that in Essex Im not suprised it has'nt happened before. Incidentally ,820 miles in three days mostly m/way mpg 30+ on optimax and fresh as a daisy at the end of it.It is certainly what these beasts were designed for! ps If the driver of the beemer on the M4 Monday afternoon reads this I wasnt racing I just wanted to read the damn badge on the back .with all those exhaust pipes I assumed a 540 but I just wanted to make sure!! |

Update on the auto box ............ Volvo looked at this under warranty and replaced the footbrake sensor. Car now drives perfectly and the adaptiveness of the box is very noticeable. Hoots |

Stuart,
Like most of the other replies, I have to say it is a factor of wheel size and tyre width/profile. Whenever motoring mags publish tyre test results they always comment on this relationship. Interestingly, I was alerted to this tendency by the salesman when buying my V70 and for this reason I went for 16" wheels on my 02 V70 and have no real problems, despite the "wandering" being worse than on my father's '95 850.
