Lambda Light Illumination Advice (1995 2.0L 10V)
I have trawled this message board, and identified that my Lambda Light has illuminated today!
I was wondering if there are any things that I could check out and possibly rectify before I take the expensive step of approaching a dealer? Colleagues at work have suggested removing a plug near my cat and blowing out the sensor? Does that sound sensible? Or should I drive myself to a dealer and find out for certain? I knew a good place for Volvos in Cardiff, but haven't yet found a recommended place near Wolverhampton - any suggestions? All the best -- Kev |

You really need to read the lambda code.
If you have the OBD11 type connector just in front of the gearstick, then there was an LED circuit on posts a while back (about Jan 2002) that certainly works for the 10v 2.5l fenix system to read codes..which I believe the 2.0l 10v has...if you have the underbonnet LEDs then it's simple. Otherwise it'll cost just to read the code...could be throttle housing/oxygen sensors/all sorts... |

Sorry, but I'm not at all familiar with what you're talking about. Underbonnet LEDs? Are there a couple of links that I could look at for info on how to work the codes out?
Sorry if this is a daft question (or covered well elsewhere). I'm an experienced aircraft technician with bugger-all knowledge about cars! Cheers -- Kev |

Firstly check all vacuum hoses etc. around the inlet manifold/throttle/air filter area, you might need to remove the cover over the throttle mechanism. Listen for any sucking noises coming from that area and replace any cracked hoses.

OK - Finally I found the reqd info at volvospeed and have checked my fault code.
I got 2-4-3 Have reset the light and gone for a short drive with no fresh illumination so far. Any ideas on what it might have been? With thanks -- Kev |

2-4-3 is Throttle position sensor signal out voltage range.
When I bought my 850 I had this code so they cleaned the throttle housing and sensor...all ok after that. |
