Exhaust V70R AWD ..removing a silencer..?
Hi all,
Have posted this in General but thought I'd post here as well if thats ok. I find the exhaust layouts on these cars a tad confusing and not as straight forward as the Subaru world ( where I've had too much experience! ) which is simply downpipe, centre and backbox. My R AWD I know has a Downpipe, then a "suitcase" centre , then since it's AWD goes to a hidden silencer on the LHS behind the bumper which then feeds to the backbox on the RHS.. Why?!? The 2WD R just goes to a single or double backbox so why this weird set-up? I'm just planning ahead here. My R AWD is great but the hidden backbox is very rusty and flaking and looks as if it's about to "go", given that the cold winter will probably take its toll. So , has anyone removed this hidden silencer and just piped to the backbox on the RHS? Would this make it much louder? I don't actually mind it being a bit throatier anyway Or do I have to replace the whole system? :/ At the moment I cant really cant afford the expense of a whole system like the Ferrita from Kalmar Union or Jetex system which I know replaces the whole system from the Downpipe ( I think ) Any help is appreciated, Cheers, Steve
