Default Double sided tape removal

About 20 years ago I fitted a Volvo sun roof wind deflector to my 850. Over the years the adhesive has failed. I took it off and found the tape had all stuck to the roof and none to the deflector.

Some bits have come off but there is a lot stuck on.

What can be used to remove this? Two suggestions have been lighter fuel and label remover.

Bob

White spirit/turps substitute or panel wipe will work- keep soaking as you remove.

I tried white spirit today and it was not very effective.

Gently heat with a hair dryer to soften the adhesive to pull off the larger pieces.
Try similar on the remnants or use a tar and glue remover for small bits.

Hairdryer and alcohol gel/wipes or a sponge soaked in nail varnish remover does the trick.

Used this to remove boot badges in the same way

Cheers

I used all the above and it was a very slow process, some were slightly better than others. It is mostly all off now but I just used Autoglym paint renovator to tidy up the paint around the area and that took a lot off that was still there. Then I used Meguiar's Ultra-Cut 105 compound that I use on my guitars, and that took more off. Nearly done.
