Default Keys 99' V70 T5SE

Hi , I've only got one key to my car. Just been to a key cutter here in France. He was able to read the chip code, but is not able to remove the chip to put it in a new key (for fear of damaging it).
He could cut a key without chip tho'. He said that would only open the door.
If I had a new key or 2 cut would they start the car IF the original key was in the car?
Ta.

The chip is the immobilizer chip

A cut key without the chip will physically open the doors and turn on the ignition, but cannot start the car, as the car will be immobilized.

If the original key is within range of the ignition lock antenna (that means within a few cm), then the car can be started.

There are a number of forum posts about taping the original key to the lock barrel inside the column shroud - ie out of sight and then using the chipless key(s) as normal.
