I know the feeling mate, Im getting sick of being help up by people taking months to do stupid little jobs that should take a day or two.

Patience really is a virture and one I dont possess much of.

Youll get there. Theres engines about and you're more than half way there. Stick with it, I want to whoop your ass with the T5 =p

Don't get too down hearted mate, every project hits a brick wall from time to time.

When I was swapping to a diesel lump in my 960, the pikeys took a shine to it half way through and decided to relieve me of pretty much everything apart from the block that was bolted into the car.

This included all the stuff that I'd removed ready to sell to fund the whole project!!

I VERY nearly threw in the towel there and then, but something drove me on and after searching high and low I eventually gathered all the bits together that I needed, one at a time and a year later it was pressed back into daily service

Doesn't help that i'm a stubborn b****rd though!

Don't lose faith,

Steve

Stay with it.

Take a break if you need to, but don't abandon it... you'll always regret that later

Right...update on the project!

I sourced a new engine, a B230FT from Braydons, which arrived last week looking like a right mess:

Stripped down and it's a pretty thin engine:

Engine bay cleaned and the worst of the rust removed and painted:

Does it fit?!:

After a fair bit of wiggling and swearing:

And it's in!!:

Not a huge amount of clearance, but enough!:

Now to get the downpipe modified to fit down there!!:

We spent a fair while wiring it up because the monkeys who had previously fitted the old turbo engine had cut the plug off the knock sensor cable and stuck on a plug to fit it to the gauge temperature sensor. After a couple of hours scratching our heads we got it sorted and then fired up to find the ignition timing is out, so that's the job for tomorrow.

At least this engine cranks and has lots of compression which is always a good sign!!

Dan
