Default V50 (S40/C30/C70) 2.0 D Engine Removal

Afternoon all,

I'm going to pull the siezed engine out of my '57 plate pre-facelift 2.0D this weekend so I can fit the replacement that I have been building up...

Question is - what is the best method to remove? Haynes manual suggests remove both the engine and gearbox by lowering them - is this the best way? I'm doing this without a ramp (but am very resourceful...). It also says that the turbo has to be removed first - is this necessary?

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Engine and box out of bottom as per haynes manual is best way,

Obviously easier with a ramp but take as much off as you can off engine and then wedge some blocks under it and use engine crane to lift from of car off engine,

Hi. I've stumbled across this old post about engine removal and wondered how you got on ? I've got the same job to do on a C70, which i think is basically the same car. I'm also in Beverley, coincidentally. Any tips (or pitfalls to avoid) would be great. Thanks in advance !

I would try sending Tannaton a message. Judging by the cars in his signature he probably does not visit this bit of the forum anymore. Ask him if he would be kind enough to update this thread.
