Service Reset Light
Service Required Light: ~
Volvo V70 2.5 Litre Petrol 1997. The service light has just come on so looking for ways to remove it. Tried the holding down of the mileage button & ignition switched to the second place but apparently it doesn’t work for this year i.e. 1997. It seems that a reset tool is required? Any ideas please as I don’t have the above. (Service has been completed) Many Thanks Bob |

You need Vol-FCR for windows laptop, or 850 OBD-II for android phone with a bluetooth ELM327 interface to reset the service light on OBDII equipped P80 cars. It can't be done via button presses on the cluster. An ELM327 bluetooth interface is cheap on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OBD2-ELM3...Dnjm:rk:8:pf:0 850 OBD-II is £1.69 on the Google Play store.

Purchased the ELM 327 (OBD11) & the app as recommended: ~ tried the items a few times but can’t seem to reset the service light.
The unit scans with an intermittent warning message relating to a chip but will continue to run the scan if cancelled. Obviously not sure if this is done right so any further advice is appreciated- is there a way to just set the service light. Thanks Bob |

My V70 T5 is the same year as yours, and I reset mine using the Draper service light reset tool. It wasn't very expensive but I don't think they're available now - you can try to get one or borrow one though, if this route appeals to you?

Many thanks: ~ looked at the Draper tool but the price isn’t worth it to me @ £200 region. (I may just remove the bulb if I can’t get an economical fix)
we may just be using the app wrongly? it dosnt seem that straight forward when operated-- but the year date for the car and OBD etc. is really vague in terms of what can be used. Further advice is appreciated as I like things to work properly on the car- anyone within driving distance of Wigan area with a tool or the loan of one (secured etc.) Donation to the beer fund- have a wife to swop & comes complete with own purse!! Hmmm, might be a different Draper tool we're talking about, I forget exactly but mine cost something between £15 and £30 a few years ago, but as I say last time I looked they weren't available new - worth keeping a lookout second-hand though?
EDIT: The one I have is like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-Serv.../dp/B000MQ65F6 but as I say currently "out of stock". Cheers!

Service light reset tool

Be careful with these as the tool requires a SIM type card which will only work with the tool it is paired with when first used. Two of these on ebay are new but require purchase of a new SIM card to work. Also, I don't know what the cost of the card is or even if they are still available.
