I do this too, especially on cars with mild steel exhausts, it does seem to help them last longer, top tip that.

Spot-on. I knew about that trick, yet forgot to follow my own wisdom. The acid-water has to go somewhere. I'll get the drill out. The only thing I'd add is do two holes. One can clog

Yours is relatively new ! A long time before you will need an exhaust , they are stainless steel ..should last the life of the car ... Many 1990's volvos still going around with their original Exhausts ..
