Default New 122 in California

Hi folks!

I've worked on many different old cars over the years, but I've finally picked up a 122 in boxes. It came with a B18 and B20 that I have combined into a running B20 - and I am going through brakes etc right now. I'll post a couple of questions that I am hoping the gurus can help me with and then a pic. Thanks in advance!

Q1: I am missing the throttle linkage between the 32/36 weber and the throttle arm from the pedal. Can anyone post a pic of that linkage (for a single carb perhaps)? Any ideas on where to buy such a thing?

Q2: The car has a 4 speed w/overdrive. The manual says straight 30w but I smelled it and I am sure it is gear oil. Is it ok to run gear oil in there or should I drain it?

Thanks!

-Floyd

Floyd;

Welcome to this forum!

I can't help with a DGV throttle linkage...perhaps someone with this setup can take a picture (otherwise, ipd offered this carb conversion as a kit, so they might be able to supply a linkage kit)...I'll also make you aware of the Swedespeed.com forums, which you might try joining and posting to...

M41 is a gearbox setup which many owners enjoy, so a good start there...if this car has been together before, its just a matter of bringing it there again...if you are missing parts, or are not certain of fit, asking on forums will surely get you advice and experience to help. I see tires are off, but not if Drums are...this is required to gain service access to rear Brakes (Note: removal takes special tools and techniques to be successful and not cause damage).

Oil in gearbox can be anything from ATF to engine oil to gear oil...even the factory manuals of various vintages called for all of these at one point or another...I probably like gearoil the best...if friction clutches in OD work OK with it (and I've found they do), I prefer it for the higher viscosity in the gearbox.

I invite you to check out (my) SW-EM site tech articles for model specific info...that along with your general vintage vehicle experience should get you driving it again.

Cheers from Connecticut!
