Do T5's attract unwanted attention.
I live in South Wales, which is known for being bad for car crime.
I would want to remove the T5 badge from my prospective purchase. Has anyone else had problems with their T5? IE envy stripes, breakins or theft. I think they are pretty subtle, only the Columbus alloys give the 850 T5 away. What I want is a sleeper, I like the "What the F**K was that?!" effect.

i always thought south wales was the car crime capital of the uk..., im not so sure that vehicle crime is targetted solely to t5's...
i have never had any trouble with my car being targetted but then again i live in a quiet area with minimal "hoodies".. cheers jod

living in south wales your obviously going to have a higher than average chance of some moron having a go at your car but the chances of it being singled out due to the fact its a t5 are minimal i dont think the average taff hoodie would know what a t5 was if it bit him on the arse.

i've had mine key'd but that was a personal thing & nothing to do with the actual car. BT is kept on an open drive & no-ones tried anything else, even with aftermarket wheels & other visible mods

thanks to all
Ta for your encouragement.
I have seen an 850 T5 saloon on eBay that I like. It looks bog standard, good to me as I don't want to look like a 17 y/o cnut in a 1.1 Saxo with fart cannon. I live near RAF St. Athan, which is commuting distance for Barry or Cardiff oiks. I just worry that with modern sophisticated alarms and immobilisers that twoc'ers go for older cars. On the plus side the T5 I like has no cosmetic mods and asside from the badge and alloys looks like any other 11 y/o Volvo. I should check the car on ebay to see if it has an alarm. once again, Cheers

the best immobiliser is to take the ecu with you...it even has its own handle....not practical but highly effective....
