I'm always amazed at how far reaching things go when electric cars come up.

Batteries die eventually. This is true. However people buy cars today with a 3 year or 60.000 mile warranty, however an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty is somehow worse?

Electric reminds me of diesel, many people, even today refuse to believe a diesel engine is any good. When they eventually try they wonder why they stuck with petrol for so long, I believe electric to go down the same road. To me all cars now are very complex, having a way to reduce complexity is surely a good thing. Electric allows this. Its not ready yet for all, nor could we sustain it if everyone changed today but overall reducing complexity whilst increasing performance to me is good.

Personally I'm happy for it to stay as it is, as it means I can keep on using the very few eV spaces to charge very cheaply when out and about.

If you are going to use cameras instead of door mirrors why have the screens in the doors where you still have make a big diversion in your gaze ?? They can be positioned anywhere and the centre of the top of the dash is a big improvement , blend them together as one image or just put one camera on the rear ...

Having driven a hybrid for the last 2+ years, I just can't see myself going back to a diesel.
Diesels just feel a retrogressive step now. I do appreciate why diesels will still suit many drivers for years to come.

I like large cars and my ideal car would be a hybrid, (self confessed range anxiety sufferer)that could do 200 miles plus in a pure electric mode but capable of of 400 miles plus of mixed driving.

I think Hybrids as we know them will die out quite quick as battery technology is coming on very quick, and once there his a decent convenient charging system, range anxiety will soon become a thing of the past.
I do not see any new Hybrids of sorts being promoted at the moment from the Big Manufactures, just seems all plans for full electric.

I guess there will be a small majority of people living in middle of no where will still require some from of hybrid, but I think it really would be only a small efficient engine to just keep you moving.

I would not certainly not go back to anything less than a hybrid now, but next car will almost certainly be full electric in the next 3 years.

Apparently, they only add a measly 2 kilometres to the range of the Audi etron.
Will they still be able to house spiders, my grand daughter would not be very happy if her pet spider had no home.

What would be really fascinating would be the picture one gets after some well directed bird poo lands on the camera lens.

Mine too - but I need a 350 mile minimum range.

A petrol driven generator to recharge the battery instead of driving the road wheels for longer journeys. As the new Volvo based black taxi's but with a lot more battery only range.
