The temp issue seems to be fixed with a new sensor. While changing that I also swapped the short piece of rubber fuel hose before the filter housing to a piece of see-through hose.

I assume it's the primer pump part of the housing. After the engine bay warms up a little, there's significantly less air so propably some rubber part gone bad. Do I need a new filter housing or is it serviceable? Didn't seem like that.

I don't believe you can service the primer part of the housing. You could try spraying silicone in there to try soften any rubber components. The complete housing itself, Volvo refer to it as a Fuel Strainer, is P/N 30875319 if you wish to do some further research.

There's a listing of the gasket/seal (P/N 30852919) between the heater and the housing and this may have gone hard over time. This may very well be the same dimensions as the filter gasket

That seal seemed fine when I had the housing on the bench. And it really is probably the same size as the filter gasket.

But I managed to find a repair kit or two for the primer. Just search for "purflux repair kit". And it shows what's inside the thing. Pretty simple device.

Great! I was unaware of such a repair kit. Every day's a school day.

It took a while for the repair kit to come from France. I mounted it yesterday with a whiff of silicone on the housing side since I wasn't convinced I would get the membrane to seal properly without a proper press setup. Tabs on the cover are actually a little tricky to bend and still keep it tight, especially the one in the hole on the back side.

At this point I can't say much about succeeding, because the filter was obviously full of air. A little test with compressed air prior to installing the housing on the car and a shortish test drive were promising. But then again...

Do I need vida/dice to get the service light reset? I tried with the most common trip button and key combinations and then some.

A little update. The kit I purchased from ebay was waste of time. It worked fine for a while, but in under two months there was so much air in the fuel line the car wouldn't start. The membrane was broken and deformed. Clearly unsuitable material. Got my money back, though. So I put the thing back together with the old membrane since there were no holes in it. Maybe it has hardened a bit but with some of that silicone seems to work for now.

Then another thing got me wondering. Every time the AC compressor turns on, it really feels when driving. I don't think it has been this clear before. Should I get worried?
