The perfect all-round car - as long as you get the spec that best suits your needs.
Having had a succession of XC70 D5s, mostly with Polestar, I just found the D4 under-powered for a car of its size (tried several in case individual vehicles differed slightly but they were all the same), which is why I got a D5 - and then added Polestar - much more like it!
Never had the PP pipe problem.
Subsequently trading it for a T6 was a moment of sheer madness - which, apart from fuel consumption, I haven’t regretted for a minute - totally awesome!

I am actually considering a V90 CC next as a change from my current V90 RDesign, so interested in the comments to the OP.
Just because powerpulse doesn't always work in D5 it doesn't mean it's not better/more powerful engine/car setup than D4. D5 actually even without powerpulse runs amazingly good. However there is just slight delay because of turbo not spooling up as fast as without PowerPulse. But the actual difference between D4/D5 regarding turbo spooling is none because both have two turbines and when powerpulse is not working both are without powerpulse logical.

Anyway, D5 still comes with better brakes, AWD, better ECU software, etc...

I do agree however, that this powerpulse issue is very annoying... But it doesn't make D5 not worth to go for IMO.

I moved from an XC60 to tha D5 V90cc.. The style and long legged comfort sold me. I recently drove from Inverness to Southampton stopping only for a pee and some fuel.
I miss the height of the XC60 but the overall package is awesome. 3 Powerpulse hoses so far is only negative.

Be careful... wary on those D5. Go to the D4 and then install Polestar engineered optimisation

I have had my CC D4 for around 18 months. It is very good for soaking up the miles with very comfortable seats. Mine has the 18” wheels, and 4 corner suspension.

I changed from an E class and have not regretted the change.

The average MPG is 45, and can get 52-54 on a motorway run.

We were changing my wife's car and she wanted to have an estate again after an SUV. We finally tracked down our car in Welwyn Garden City and had been very pleased ever since. I did a lot of looking into the merits of the D4, D5, and the petrols and probably would have preferred the D5 for its extra horses but we struggled to find the right one.
Ours is a fully loaded ex-Volvo UK D4 which I got upgraded with Polestar from the outset and we've been very pleased with it indeed. The car is very nice inside and great to look at from the outside. My only complaints would be the lack of interior storage space i.e. cubby holes and decent deep door pockets, and the rather small boot. So far the boot hasn't defeated us but it is smaller than other estates. Also, the drive mode selector is really fiddly and awkward and takes a bit too much attention to make sure you've selected the right mode. Rotating drums do not make good pushbuttons. The driver display should be where the drive mode options pop up and not on the centre screen. All these grumbles apply to all V90s whatever the model, I think.

I've just thought of another but this may be related to our 21" wheels. The turning circle is abysmal!! Truly dire and embarrassing when you end up stopping traffic to manoeuvere in places that would cause no problem for other big cars.

The car is almost unique where I live and it's nice to drive something that isn't an XC90, Land Rover or cross-over.

Hi all thanks for the comments very helpful. Wonder what the mpg in real world terms is on the t6? That polestar remap on the d4 what does it take it to from 190 bhp?
I've drove two d5 v90 cc but yet to drive a d4 before choosing. Read in a post about the awd on the d4 to the d5 models. Is the awd setup not the same just a different engine set up?
Regards
Dan
