In reference to other posts on this thread too, I agree with you that the Touareg is an undervalued car, if only it had 7 seats. There are some pretty big discounts available on them now, they drop a ton from new but if you can get the discount, or find an ex-demo or similar, they can make sense. :wq

I believe you manually move the tailgate to the height you want it to open to and then press and hold the close button until you hear a beep to set it to always stop at that height.
I would have thought a new car would open to the full height however. I'm just over 6'2" and only occasionally brush my head on the tailgate when the air suspension has lowered for easy entry and exit and i'm stood on uneven ground. :wq

Definitely spot on regarding the headlights. I went from a 2019 Mercedes E-Class with multibeam LED, to a 2020 V90CC with the full package. Before that I had a 2013 E-Class with Intelligent Light System (which is now called Multibeam LED). There is no doubt that headlights on Mercedes cars are at least two generations ahead of what Volvo uses now. Even the 2013 MB Intelligent Light System had more movable LEDs in the matrix than the Volvo, and was much more responsive. It would be on 100% of the time outside of the city, lighting up the side of the road where deers are.
Driving with the Mercedes was a light-show of light fields moving very quickly around in front of you, while my 2020 Volvo is more like an intelligent on/off switch with a few supporting, movable fields. Had a VW Arteon for a few months last year, and even that was better than the Volvo. More movable LEDs, quicker to react, would be on for more of the time. And for what it's worth, I'm a Volvo guy and my V90CC was in my opinion a definitive upgrade from the E-class. Except for the headlights. Though I will say that when the Volvo senses there are no cars ahead, it will turn on "full full beam". That outputs more light than any other system I have ever used, and more than the Merc on full beam. (And yeah, my V90CC has the full headlight package) |

headlight cracks
My XC90 developed small spider vein cracks on the two front headlines, almost uniform to each other, about a month ago. This has now developed into full blown cracks and moisture has gotten inside the headlamps. The lights are now malfunctioning and while out dropping friends home Saturday, we had full failure of headlights and had to get escorted home by other vechicle.

I can recommend a tuning box for the D5 lump. I have the dtuk device which takes it to about 270bhp and 400ft lbs torque.
Still a rattly 4pot with naff gearbox but goes better in a straight line now. |

picked up a my2019 R design ProT5 with the full bag of mashings in December after having two XC90s. This is a car i just enjoy driving and it brings a smile to the face! Its an easy car to drive and all the bits work as advertised, including the Auto full beam! I think the only thing i havent tried is the auto-park. not that senile yet! The only thing is that lack of mid range grunt, so a Polestar is in the pipeline. MPG is about the same as my old diesel XC90, but cheaper at the pumps and as i have stopped the daily commute, cheaper as well.
The only two things that dissapoint are: Lack of any decent M&S/cross climate 21" rubber, so will probably get another set of rims and having to buy a set of rear wheel arch liner extenders to keep the crud off the bottom of the rear doors. |
