Default Oil level

Anyone had this. Had the car about 8 weeks. The oil level was showing fine with the blue level indicator when I first got it,. Checked it again the other day and it was fine. I've never added oil and now its showing too full?
Will this be okay to drive, there are no warnings I just happened to scroll through and saw it.

This will be due to unburnt diesel from uncompleted DPF regenerations seeping down past the pistons into the sump. You will find a lot of discussion of this subject in the forum

Do I need to do anything. Will it cause any issues?

Take it to a dealer and they will drop the oil level, and if required change the oil but that does not always get done, there is a software update for the oil level but I doubt it will stop the diesel dilution problem.

If the oil level gets too high it can damage an engine if it gets high enough that the pistons hit it on the down stroke. Do not panic though I would think the warning is well below any level that will cause a problem.

During a DPF Regeneration a small amount of diesel is injected into the pistons on the exhaust stroke, this is to increase the temperature to over 400°c at the DPF to burn off soot that has been collected, some owners are experiencing problems with this system as mentioned in the post above, resulting in diesel getting in the sump.

Some Land Rover engines are suffering the same problem.

is it still under warranty ? did you get it from a volvo dealer ?

if not someone could have changed the oil before you got it and put the wrong quantity in and did they use the proper unique type ? They also should have calibrated the oil level sensor at the same time .

what needs to be done is to drain the oil and filter , fill with exactly 5 litres
of 0w/20 volvo spec. VCC RBS0-2AE oil and reset the oil level gauge and go from there ...

It's a demonstrator 8 month old that I bought on the Selekt network from a Volvo dealer, so it will be under manufacture warranty and Selekt too.
