Default Nearly £500 for a service?

My car is due for a service so I've booked it into my local MD. I'll get the recall done during this service which is great.

I was told the service would probably take the whole day so have to drop in first thing in the morning. No issues there and bonus that I get a courtesy car.

However I'm a bit surprised at the quoted price, £481 for a service.
Just wondering if this is normal?

My car is 17 reg S90 on about 40k miles.

I am so glad I included a 5 years service plan for £499 when I bought my car.

You have reminded me I need to book my car in for the recall work and get my power pulse pipes checked.

Somethings not right. Third service for your model should cost around £300.

Have a look at Volvo's service price information at: https://www.volvocars.com/uk/own/mai...ntenance/book/

Mines an older non-SPA model, but today I paid £412 (inc.VAT) for service #6 at a Volvo dealer (basically just an oil change plus all new filters)... I also had recall work carried out and they needed my car for ~3.5 hours. They bump up the price with the health check, interior and exterior valet, plus the annual recovery scheme.

Now mines reached 5 years old I'll not bother using a main dealer again.

Many thanks for the link. I've actually checked prices on the MD I'm booked at it said £280, although it's indicative.

I'll query this with the dealership. 481 seems a bit steep for basically an oil change.

Screenwash? Wipers? Valet?

Check out the invoice carefully. If there's guff on it that you didn't ask for, ask for it to be removed (politely).

That's shocking. Mine is almost out of warranty and I'd probably look into a specialist for servicing.

Mine's due for recall but they shouldn't be charging for that!

I've used the link above and it looks like I'm due for a standard service which would basically just be an oil change and filters as you've mentioned.

I know a very good local garage however last time I was there he struggled a bit with the resetting certain values. I wanted to get the rear pads changed but he couldn't release the brake even with his SnapOn.

Looking at the link above they've probably added extras on which I don't need.
I do realise dealerships need to make some profit however possibly inflating prices by almost 50% doesn't seem right to me.

Let's hope I get better clarification tomorrow.

Are there any local independent Volvo specialists that you could use? Using one to do your service won't affect your warranty & will more than likely be much cheaper for you.

I've tried looking at the service price linked earlier in this thread. I input my reg & then selected the model, but the year of my vehicle (2007) doesn't come up on the drop down menu? Only 2009 onwards does... :/
