The only time I have had white deposits is when the car was new with original screenwash and after 1 year service (at different dealership from where I bought)

I have used a mixture of Sonax winter extreme and various types Euro Car Parts Triple QX, no white deposits.

I just buy 'off the shelf' stuff and have tried both 'ready to use' and 'dilute to your personal requirement' types - and bought mostly from the big stores.

One thing they all have to have in common, is 'smear free' on the label.

Although I bought a 20L pack of Holts which is very good, I also bought a 10L pack of methanol/methan-1ol / aka methyl alcohol and have used a mix of 500ml alcohol + 25ml of washing-up liquid + 10ml of dishwasher "rinse-aid" added before a full washer bottle refill in the both the V70 and C70's washer bottles whilst it gives a totally smear free clear screen which doesn't ice over above -5°C when used....the drawback is the "squeak" caused by the rinse-aid - omitting the rinse-aid stops the squeaking and doesn't seem to make any difference to smearing.

Whats not being said is who has heated wiper blades. ie heaters at the end of the wiper arms?
As was pointed out by a contributor to this thread, some screen wash will leave a nice salt deposit as it evaporates and can block jets. I have heated blades so will be using solvent based wash ie BMW or Volvos own.
If they are not heated, like my old bus, then Halfrauds best was Ok. But must say that the screen is now smear free with the solvent based stuff.

Is there any other spirit based screenwash besides the Volvo and BMW ones?

Is Autoglym spirit based?

Sometimes quite hard to get hold of. Product details state flammable so alcohol based. Smells nice too.
