All possible answers have already been stated.

Now it’s time for action:
Take car to dealer for checkup
Or remove some oil yourself

And if not, it is still entertaining to watch

Just had to check the adblue level before driving on holiday. My car also shows the 'oil overfill' message. Not in the dash as a warning, but only in the sensus at the end of the bar. It has been 6 months since last service, and I have not filled up the oil my self.

Needs checking then. Either drop a couple of hundred ml’s of oil out or go to your nearest dealer. My Volvo Assist engineer seemed to think it was common! My car was taken away on a flatbed. I’m not impressed.

I do not believe it is common on current Volvo but it is very common to transverse engine Land/RangeRover/Jaguar and Isuzu 2.5 litre twin turbo pickups. Probably more. It is a big problem on the above mentioned, necessitating JLR to provide free intermediate early oil changes well into the future. They don’t seem to have found a solution for existing vehicles but will probably have done so for the new revised models, starting with the current Evoque. I mean serious amounts of gross fuel contamination is involved that must compromise the engine life of those engines.

Believe me, Volvo have nothing approaching that kind of issue.

I should also mention when I last checked it looked like the level was going up again, so I expect I might see this issue again before the next service is due. The funny thing is I've never once heard or experienced the DPF regen in 20k miles of use.

Yes I thought the same. Thanks for the link. I should have searched it. I’ll certainly be keeping a closer eye on my oil level.
