Question XC90 T8 best long distance driving mode?

Hi everyone, just wondering, which mode do you use for XC90 T8 on a long-distance highway driving?

I assume the car should drive on both engine to get the best MPG, however, if I choose hybrid mode, drive at 60mph, it seems to drain the battery first then using pure petrol. Do you have any idea how to get a best MPG on a long-distance (more 100miles) drive on T8?

Thanks.

I tend to use hybrid until the motorway then put it in hold mode. Travelled 300 miles over the weekend averaged 60 mph on the motorway and got 39.9 mpg (voc app). Driving much over 40 drains battery quickly

Well my top tip is if you are going for best economy, go for pure mode but switch the battery save function on and off as required. Any slow moving traffic jams or speeds up to 30mph, try to keep it on electric only. Certainly on fast roads, hold the electric and run on petrol and try to keep under or around 65mph - where appropriate of course! DON'T use the 'B' mode unless you are doing down hill or intend slowing down. Pure mode coasts really really well in drive 'D' with no pressure on the accelerator, use it as much as you can.

As an example I have just looked up, my last trip over 100 miles was from Exeter to home at 141miles. It took 2:50h I used 7.5kWh of electric but regenerated 5.6kWh with an averaged 41.9mpg. (The car was not actually 100% charged at the start of the journey btw).

Volvo recommends using the built-in satnav and will then switch between modes automatically to give you the best mpg......allegedly.
