Default noise on acceleration

When I accelerate hard I get a high pitch sound. This morning I even had a small loss of power and the off it went. I have an 87 d24t with 204000 k.
Any remarks welcome.

hi have a look at the play in turbo vanes . easy to get at . remove air intake pipe at turbo . check for play . keep all loose bits well away then start engine you can rev engine under bonnet or get someone to rev it a little switch of engine turbo shoud have a slight run on you will here it if all o k . just trying to see if turbo is ok

discribe play. I can spin the blades freely. is this what you mean?

in the green book it says check axial play . that turbine does not scrape housing when pulled axially
check radial play that compressor wheel does not scrape housing when pushed sideways and rotated. hope this is some help
