Default V50 management light.

What does the following management light signify?

ALARM SYSTEM SERVICE REQUIRED.

Is this just a faulty siren module? Also can one generally ignore the message, well at least for a while before getting around to fixing it?

Thanks

Quite likely to be the siren module but best scan with VIDA to check. Have you had any work undertaken that would dislodge anything in the alarm system such as sensors in doors or roof lining?

Car is up for auction next week and quite appeals to me. Had 940s, lots, and a V70
Never had a V50 I know is smaller than a V70 but not bothered on that. Currently shows the alarm fault which seems to be a fairly easy fix. Also reported as having a noisy clutch, so would have to factor in a new one. Is a 2007/2008 57 reg model so am assuming is a bog standard clutch and not one of these dual mass jobbies.
Think is worth a punt unless there are stories of noisy clutches that are in fact not the clutch

I see you state you really like Volvos. Keep in mind that the P1 platform is a disguised Ford, it's more so you don't expect it to be something that it isn't.

You didn't state what engine it has. Only the 5 cylinders are from Volvo, as far as I'm aware.

When all's said and done, I'm quite happy with my PSA-powered V50 diesel.

Its the 1.6L, which is I believe a Ford /Peugeot jobby.

Yes I understand will not be like any Volvos I have owned previously.

If I arrive home with another 940, not that I would not like that, I will get lynched.

It is a dual mass flywheel. You can get conversion kits to go single mass if you want to though.

Well I am assuming the worst in that it will need a new clutch. Does not look to be a particularly cheap job. There is another v50 in same auction 3 years younger 18k less miles. I might hold off and go for that one. Though I do like the metallic red of the original one.
