Default '06 fuel filter removal

we all know it can be difficult removing the fuel filter housing, several years ago i tried myself and gave up, so whenever my car went in for its mot the garage did it for me as a favour, up until today when the mechanic found the housing so tight he stopped trying fearing he would break the housing, any suggestions ? I'm thinking of booking the car into a main dealer for want of a better idea

FYI they are doing a filter removal wrench (metal strap type) in Lidl for £2.99 this week in the centre aisle. looks and feels reasonable quality too.

Both of mine - XC90, XC70 were very tight, and the strap wrench wouldnt do the job.
I bought the tool similar to the e bay link, which when used with a 1/2 ratchet did the job.
