putt, putt, putt sound
Hi,
Noticed this the other day that when I pull away from starting I hear this 'putt, putt, putt...' sound for about 1 second from where appears to be behind the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel. The car drives absolutely fine. Any ideas? |

from the engine ? Sounds like a loose injector, have they been out recently and the old spring clamps re used? They dont work a second time .
get a piece of tube and listen around each injector to see which one is causing the problem

Happens after about 20 seconds of driving and definitely comes from the dashboard area behind the dim.
Injectors to my knowledge are fine and fires up immediately even at -5. Only happens once driving, and only once. It's a new noise and doesn't sound like my abs on my v70. |

Yep, mine does the same. Don't think its the engine. Its a du, du, du, du sound lasting around 5 seconds. Feels like its inside the car just behind the dash on the drivers side.

I'm sorry, I cannot help. I've tried to figure it out and find it but have not come up with anything. I've had the car a few years now and its always done it. I got to the point were I think they all do it. If you hav the radio on you don't hear it - not a solution I know but I think thats why more people don't pick up on it.
As you say its about after 20 seconds of driving, usually I'm slowing down again. I don't get it if I start the car and don't move for 60 seconds. Not sure what that proves though. Neil |
