V70 P2 cars v V70 P3 cars
Put this originally in the General intro section but got no response, so trying here.
Has anyone here migrated from a P2 v70 to a P3 V70 and if so how have they found the experience. Not so much interested in the diesel options rather the the petrol varients and in particular if anyone has moved from a Manual T5 to a Manual 2.5T , and even more specifically the 228BHP varient. This would appear to be the nearest engine to the T5 but was only made for a limited period. Cheers Bob |

Not directly answering your question, but I've posted my initial thoughts on the P3 D3 geartronic vs. my current P2 170 manual. Obviously they both differ in performance from your question, but it might make interesting reading?

The decision about whether to migrate from a P2 to a P3 has been put off.
My old P2 T5 has passed its MOT. I have read quite a bit about better seats in P2 and comfort is important to me. P3 seats somehow look smaller, optical illusion or not. The electronic handbrake appears to be something that you learn to adapt to, but not sure if a manual box would make that harder. Add the fact that in P3 form they now don't offer a 5 cylinder PETROL engine weights the scales in sitting pat. Still they did make a 231BHP petrol for about 12 months in about 2010 - anyone got any comments about this option?? One for the future perhaps. Cheers Bob |

I am 6ft 4 and find my P3 seats very comfortable. Drove for long days last year to Krakow without any stiffness in neck or limbs. A great long distance cruiser although when I put the seat to my normal position there's precious little leg room for a passenger behind me. So I wouldn't want to drive far with passengers if it meant moving my seat forwards. Plus point is that the dogs aren't short of space!!

I've had a 3.2 litre '57' reg V70 SE Luxe for a year now, very happy with it although not so happy with fuel consumption (average 25-28mpg) and road tax £460.

I would have happily gone down the T6 route - well not that happily if I'm honest ( much bigger engine engine than my 2.3 T5 but not that much extra BHP) but it was ONLY available as an AUTO box.
Sorry, but I decide what gear I want not a computer, and I accept its got a "manual option" but its not a true manual. Even the thought of the power handbrake fills me with dread. All the above make me lean towards the 231BHP 5 cylinder v70 2.5T (but not until my T5 finallly expires.) Cheers Bob (the dinosaur) |
