Coil Spring Advice
Hi Everyone,
My C30 1.6 petrol needs a pair of front coil springs and found the original Volvo ones are quite expensive. Hope you could give me some advice on which brand would be the best to go for as there are so many choices. And while I was doing the searching, I found the genuine ford coil springs for focus mk3 and mk2 are only about half of the genuine Volvo c30 ones. I wonder would these ones fit the c30? Many thanks. |

The only danger with aftermarket springs is getting ones that are the correct length nevermind spring rate. I fitted new Sachs springs to our V50 after two broken springs and wanted to raise the ride height of the DRIVe version we have since it was lowered. I fitted standard springs to the front and heavy duty to the rear and oddly the HD springs were shorter than OEM.
As a result we have a pretty terrible look whereby the front is way higher and the back about the same so the front end looks jacked up. In the end I don't care as the car's a shed (and treated as such) but if you want a standard look beware. Volvo have a plethora of different spring options for these cars and finding an aftermarket match isn't always straightforward.

Ive had my eye out for options. on here people recommend Bilstein B4 shocks not sure on springs though. Not sure if there is a complete package?
Having changed some springs recently i would recommend the screwfix spring clamps as they are curved and hold in two places. (and dont fly off like the single hook ones). I would suggest that you need 3 or 4 spring clamps but that may have just been these ones being awkward. Some good youtube videos available for swapping. Keen to hear how you get on.
