Read the thread! Several members use the Nokian WR SUV 3 all year round, and it performs very well, just like its predecessor the WR G2 SUV, which I have used in Italian summer heats, so dont let a description fool you, thats what these threads are for, feedback and experience.

The Current Nokian "All Season" tyre is the Weatherproof SUV and it also gets good reviews.

Thanks - I'm working my way through the 100+ pages of this thread.

Nokian could be an option.

I'm running on the Scorpion Verde all season tyres and they are superb... they will get fitted next time round no hesitation.

I was in Plymouth last night and got caught out in the torrential rain bringing the daughter and grand-kids back from skating.

Some areas of road were flooded and some were shut so we had to take alternate routes.

We encountered many flash flood areas with some areas (at one roundabout) at the bottom of a hill nearly 3 ft. deep! and the wash up the side of the car as we rounded it slowly and carefully to drive uphill the other side was terrifying but it was one of those situations you had to keep going and both the combination of the car and the tyres were excellent.... we never slipped once.

There are many good tyres out there for the XC90 and we each have our favourites and tales to tell ....this is mine and why they will go on again next time.

Thanks - good points but as you say everyone has their opinion. I think I've narrowed it down to either the Verde All Seasons or the Nokian Weatherproof SUV. They both seem good so it will come down to availability. Equally living down south I may be leaning towards the Pirellis as the 'snow' factor probably isn't so pertinent down here. Pirelli £110 fitted per wheel and Nokian seem to harder to come by in 235/65R17.

Cheers.

Nokian Weatherproof SUV 235/65 R17 H (108) 4 x 4 Tyre Reinforced All Season with Fuel - C, Wet - A, Noise 1-69db at £117.40 each tyre (fully fitted)

Now really torn between the two! Can anyone comment from having run both?

I think you'll be fine with either. I didn't like the Nokian WR G3 as much as the WR G2, so came away from Nokian all together. I found the grip started to go around half way through the life of the tyre.

When I researched what tyre to go with last year it came down to the Pirelli Verde All-Season and the Michelin CrossClimate. I went with the Michelin and I really like them. They are very smooth, quiet and steer nicely. They have performed very well on our summer holiday down in Duras, France and equally well in all this rain. Only thing I don't know yet is how long they'll last. I only had them fitted last August.

Jim,

Thanks. I like the look of the Nokian's with their tread for tracks and the odd grass field but although I've found some at a comparable price to the Pirellis all the suppliers have said the same thing that they can be hard to get hold of.
In light of that (and despite you throwing Michelin's in to the mix!!!) I'm going to go with the Pirellis on this occasion, in the hope it will be easier to match all 4 when the front need doing.

Thanks for the input.

The Nokians can be tricky, I had to buy them from Camskill and then have them fitted. Quite often the cost of fitting negates any saving you managed to acquire by buying online.

I imagine the Pirellis will be a lot easier to source for tyre fitters. Sounds like they'll be ideal for you.

It becoming more and more difficult to get the "bigger" outfits to fit tyres you have supplied

I got my Last Nokians from Pneus online and were delivered to my local McConechys who charged £12 per tyre to remove, fit and balance.
But since, I found one of my local indy fitters can source Nokians direct saving all the fuss, and the prices are very competitive with the online suppliers when fitting is taken into account.

As above - I am going to go with the Pirellis for those reasons -atleast that's one less competitor for the Nokians for you!
