Default XC70 2015 front bumper fastening

Hello.

The front bumper on my 2015 XC70 has a habit of the portion that slides under the headlight keeps popping out. On both sides. I can push it back in but it doesn't feel like the receiver actually grabs hold or locks in properly.

I haven't removed the bumper yet to investigate as I was hoping someone on here may be able to help.

What kind of fastening is supposed to keep the bumper in check?

Has anyone else noticed the same and remedied it somehow?

Lettuce snow.

Cheers

Dave

We have a 2011 (my 2010) XC70 so not sure if it is the same as your 2015. The gloss plastic panel which is immediately under the headlamp is the end of a complete section which fits across the entire front of the car from one side to the other. Below that on each side is a matt black corner/side section, one on each side which surrounds the fog lamp. I had to replace the left side one (part no. 31378965) and the central lower “protection strip” after daughter had an argument with a low wall. There is also a “fog lamp frame” which fits into said panel and surrounds the fog lamp. IIRC I removed the headlamp so that I could see where and how the panels I was removing/replacing were secured. It’s the usual method of plastic dogs engaging into slots. I recall that the new sections were easily located but required considerable force to get the dogs to engage in the slots, ie: sit on ground with foot against panel in the appropriate place and push hard. Achieved it eventually. Suggest that you remove headlamps in an attempt to see how your panels are located.
For good diagrams of all the relevant parts look at www.volvopartswebstore.com
It’s an American site and is a little temperamental to navigate but you should eventually be able to navigate to the “exploded” diagram of the front bumper in the “body and interior” section.
