Well done on finding the root cause (water ingress in AUU)

You have another option:
Get a donor AUU of identical part number, and swap the Flash Memory from your AUU to donor AUU. Assuming your flash memory chip is unaffected by corrosion!. Thus the donor will receive the same serial number as the serial number is stored in flash memory, and the car will think it is the same device, and everything will happily work again.

I know it is a year later, but better late than never!!
The AUU is on an 'extension cable', it can be easily unplugged and by passed (I bought a bluetooth transmitter instead) at the plug between the passenger seat and gear stick

Hi all,my volvo s80 2.5t 2007 are loosing conection with radio and display unit,rear parking senor (sometimes all working fine for few minutes and then all off again).Also few measages on the dashboard with airbag service required ,breaks ,rear parking seansors service required all at once and nothing works for few minutes and then all this measages disapeearing but radio and rear sensors still not working.
