Default Correct engine oil for 1.6D

Hi all

Can any one confirm if this is the correct engine oil for my 2012 C30 1.6D2?
Fuchs TITAN Supersyn F Eco-DT 5w-30 Engine Oil - 5 Litres 5L

Or any you recommend the correct oil? I think it needs to be A5/B5?

Thanks...

Thats fine.
By rights the 'proper' spec that PSA created for this engine specifically, and which is superior to basic A5/B5, is PSA B71 2290. PSA B71 2290 is the best oil for these.

Stick to the big brands, Fuchs, Total, Castrol, Mobil, Motul, Shell and you wont go wrong.
These engines are very hard on the oil and legendary for giving lots of trouble which is largely as a result of oil quality and servicing. High quality oil and 10k maximum intervals is mandatory to help avoid problems. Hence the reason psa b71 2290 is better as it requires some very stringent qualities/attributes from the oil.
Must be -APPROVAL- PSA B71 2290 not -meets requirements- -performance profile- -suitable for- etc. Same with A5/B5 must be approvals not meets etc, though this is ACEA not manufacturer approval.

volvo recommend 0W/30 A5/B5 for that engine , no reason whatsoever to use anything else ...

As above, its not a volvo engine, and as above, there is good reason, since the engine manufacturer has a more stringent spec for this specific engine.
A5/B5 will not be a problem though, but change it sooner.
There is tons of stuff out there regarding these engines, it takes 5 mins to find out loads. Even psa themselves have documented problems with this engine, resulting in the service interval being drastically shortened and stipulation that draining is thorough.

THe D4162T in the V40 has to use 0w/30 i cant see how the same engine in the C30 makes any difference .. Unless they decided to raise the oil quality/type on the new range of models when the V40 came out in 2013 ... sometimes the handbooks and websites are quite a bit out of date ....

Psa make the engine in coalition with Ford.
Both PSA and Ford spec 5w30.
There is no harm in using 0w30, its better if anything, but the engine was (re-)designed around 5w30 (original psa only engine used 5w40).

Volvo decide which oil they want to use not PSA ... they decided to use 0w/30 from 2013 for some valid reason , perhaps to get through new emission regulations , they always used 5w/30 from 2004 to 2013 .
other markets may be different of course ...
