Default C70 petrol filter location?

I have a 2006 2.4i which I want to change the filter (which I've bought) on. Having looked underneath ahead of the rear wheel I can't see it.
There is a plastic panel which it might be hiding under, but if the car doesn't have one I'd rather not waste time removing the panel for the fun of it.

There is no external filter , The pump in the tank has a fine gauze on the pump inlet . Markets with poor quality fuel do have an external filter but not in UK .
