is there a handbook or manual available for 940se diesel,if so where can i obtain it,cheers ken

For everything less the engine and fuel system there is the Haynes petrol version. For the diesel specifics you will need a Green Book from Volvo. For example, the D24 engine (and derivatives) is covered in a Green Book costing about £30 (from your Volvo parts department).

Haynes for the 940 is a waste of time and money it's almost useless except for one good thing that is if you run out of andrex.

You might be right but when I tried to buy a green manual from the dealers a few years ago they told me that they no longer sell them and refered me to VOC. I believe the register keepers have some they can lend, though maybe someone else can confirm.
These green manuals are often for sale on the american ebay.com. I have about thirty 740 green manuals now - mostly from America.
The Haynes manual really isn't that bad though.
