Default v50 being towed with flat battery

hi
i have to tow my v50 to the dealers tomorrow as its got an imobiliser issue and wont start.i will be towing it on my own with an A frame.
with the steering lock being electric i will tow with the key on position 1 with the hazard lights on.
question is what would happen if the battery failed on route, would the steering lock remain off or would it lock its self
thanks

In the interests of safety for other road users I'd recommend getting it on a flat bed instead of towing.

If you are taking it to a Volvo dealer, why not ask them for their advice before setting off. They should be able to give you a definitive answer. Having said that, if the battery is healthy, I can't see there being any problem (he said, speaking with the supreme confidence of the ignorant!).

Unless the vehicle which you are towing the V50 with is registered on its V5 as a recovery vehicle you will be committing a criminal offence if you tow it with an A frame. The chances of a policeman spotting you who actually knows the law is quite slim but if one does - or DVSA you will end up with a prohibition notice and in court as you are towing an unbraked trailer which will be i.r.o. 200% overweight.

To answer your question however no the electric lock will not re-apply if the battery goes flat, it needs electrical power to do that.
