Default Vintage 1970s Volvo branded watch

This is a vintage self-winding automatic watch signed Volvo on the dial. The style of the watch is indicative of the early-mid 1970s.

Please DM me if you are interested.

The watch winds on a rotor as you move it and you can top up by winding the crown.

I spoke to an older Volvo rep at a trade show and he said that Volvo would occasionally give loyalty gifts to good customers or to high-achieving sales staff in the 1970s. It’s difficult to know, but if this is the case the present watch is a rare survivor and I have never seen a similar one.

I have not opened the watch so apologies for no movement shot. It is likely that the watch was supplied by Certina but I cannot be absolutely sure.

The condition of this watch is very good: some flecks on the glass, an almost perfect dial and some fine abrasions on the case. There is one small scratch on the caseback.

The watch is perfect for every day use and gets very good scores on the timegrapher. Around -15/+15 secs per day. However the slightly low amplitude and the suggests that a service in the medium term would be appropriate. Timing figures not guaranteed. It also doesn’t wind as smoothly as I would like.

The caseback reads:

Stainless-steel

Swiss-made

Waterprotected

This is a vintage watch therefore water protection not guaranteed.
