2.4i inlet manifold removal
Evening all
I have a management light on and have renewed both the O2 sensor and the MAF but still the light comes back on. I have also renewed the upper manifold orings. I sprayed carb cleaner around the manifolds and the engine note changed so a leak from the lower manifold. Is there a procedure for the removal of the inlet manifold? It looks a bit of a nightmare as I cannot see how to remove the air box. Many thanks |

Well after finding the relevant information on other sites I managed to change the inlet manifold gasket . Whilst changing it I found a neat hole in a breather pipe to the PCV. At first I thought it was manufactured that way but looking online I found it shouldn't have a hole there. I temporarily blocked the hole with insulation tape and ran the engine. The noise I heard was deafening. The PCV was howling like a wolf and had massive vacuum at the oil cap. Its pretty obvious that some previous owner/garage had drilled a hole in the breather pipe to disguise the failing PCV. I think the knackered PCV generated the P0171 code. I have changed O2 sensor, MAF sensor and the inlet manifold gasket . Oh well you live and learn!!
