Car options from reg number?

Anyone know whether it is possible, or is able to, identify the options fitted from factory by the registration plate? I realise that the VIN would be better but I don't have access to it.

In a word - No.

The reg will give you the trim spec, but any factory fitted optional extras won't be identifiable from the reg alone - they *may* be included in the VIN, but not all options are included there either

Vida+Dice will give some report of car equipment (long list of options active/not active etc) but I think its still less than actual info you could get from dealer (your car wont know what alloy model you have on, just size etc). I would imagine that central database would contain information such as tinted windows or extra boot protector etc etc...
