I took my C70 D5 to have a remap yesterday but the tuner wouldn’t do it.

The reason was that upon an initial scan over two pages of abnormal faults came up and they felt that I should have it checked by a Volvo tech before clearing them.

I think it’s all down to a faulty CEM I had replaced last year. After replacing it I don’t think the indie garage cleared the codes. The car has done a couple of thousand miles since without any issue at all.

The tuner is worried that if he clears them and there’s an ECU fault subsequently I might expect him to cough up for a replacement. Apparently he’s had It happen before so won’t risk it.

The problem is how do I find a dealer or indie who knows enough about these things to fix this, preferably without having to pay a fortune? I not very trusting of dealers at the best of time.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I would speak to Shem at Shemtek Automotive Solutions. Knows his stuff about these cars. Well worth the trip over 👍

Bridgend Volvo Specialists are superb. They also sell RICA maps.

If you bought a new CEM and it was coded to the car properly you wo't have any problems , No one is going to risk altering your car with the wrong or a used CEM from a different car in your car ..

Yep, sounds to me like Volvo stuffed up and didn't clear the codes - They should have.

I'd try and find someone local with VIDA (there is a forum here somewhere with locations of people) and get all the codes cleared, see if any then come back after a week of driving it around.

Volvo typically charge £90 for a simple 5 minute readout/clear so definitely worth sourcing someone else with VIDA first.
