Couldn't agree more. My 2011 C30 has LED DRLs (very bright) low in the bumper. They go off when the lights go on. I live in a rural area, lot of lanes and so many times I've seen people at junctions twitch and then stop as they see them. And it is a white car, so pretty visible. They do it for me.

Yes, I understand what you guys are saying, maybe I'm just old school and don't like them and I have noticed on some other car like Vaxhaull, they have them on too, but only on the front, and the dash lights up too. The problem with that is (my son in law does it all the time) you jump in the car in the dark and start it up, then you think you have put your lights on as you can see the main beam in front of you and the dash is lit, so you drive away.
But you have NO back lights on unless you remember to turn the lights on yourself.
So I look at it as a stupid idea, even in this S40 I have got into it in the night and started it up and drive off, I have not turned the headlights on as they look like they are on anyway. It's only when I remember I turn the light switch to the on position.

Plus, I still remember and think of the old phrase in the day "Look at that silly tw*t, left his headlights on"

Aye but the old VOLVO had 'bright' side lights eg 25Watts in the 480 /440.
not the head lights!!!

it is a fact that when I jump into other cars I forget that I have to switch on the lights cos the two Volvos are always lit up like Christmas Trees :-)

and for info in some countries (or cars) the DRL are only the fronts, so you still forget to turn the rears on!

Only for cars type approved after that date so not relevant here. Then again as it is a late model possibly with proper drl it is possible volvo had the type appraisal changed.

And it's about the likely hood of the dealer doing it rather than the exact legality of it.
