Default water leak

V50 2.0D SE 2005 Estate

I have had this car for 4 days. We have had no rain, the water in radiator expansion tank is normal and I have no sunroof. Washer bottle is empty, as it was when I got the car.

Tuesday seemed ok, but yesterday morning there was a big puddle in the drivers footwell. I threw away the top carpet and dried the main carpet out with a bath towel. no smell to the water and it's not particularly dirty.

This morning there was a little puddle which grew during the 8 miles drive to work.

My tiny feet were v wet.

I have read the other leaky threads and nothing seems to match my water retention.
Before investing in some driving wellies and paddling off to the garage, is there anything else I can take a look at?

Thank you

Could it be the aircon condenser / evaporator?

Default condenser

Hi, thanks for the response, I can have a good look...any idea what/where I should be looking. Aircon is always on, colder mornings means set to warm so shouldn't really be condensing this much but obviously need to check

thanks again

Drivers footwell carpet, the bit that rises next to your left foot, pull that down and you'll see a little black squishy rubber 'elbow' fitting with tubing going down to the floor. This is the condense water drain and can become detached, there's no way at this time of year there would be enough condense to flood the footwell though.

Check under the boot floor where the spare wheel is too, do you park downhill facing?

Default water in front footwell

Hello!

Thank you for the reply.
I park on the drive which is fairly flat and there is no evidence of water in the spare wheel bay. There's more water there now even though it's been standing since 10.30am.
We will have a go at digging up the carpet to find the squishy thing

Regards,
Susan

when you find the drain pipe note that it goes through a 90 degree bend (white plastic connector) .. this is where there may be blockage ... you can carefully pull the rubber of the white plastic connector and push a pipe cleaner or some such through - you will know if that's the problem as when you pull the pipe off you get water coming out of the black rubber pipe ... (ask me how I know )
