Default Broken

Hi All, Can you let me know what this pipe is please?
I was looking at the leak at the base of where that pipe goes to, and that corrugated section the arrow points to is broken. I've put some of that black duct tape around it, not sure if it will be fine or if I should replace?

Thanks

That pipe is part of the crankcase ventilation system (PCV). If its broken you need to replace it.

I believe this pipe is hard plastic on older engines and was replaced with a rubber one.

To replace you will need to remove the top intake manifold (same as if accessing spark plugs) as the pipe connects at the top of the engine.

To remove the bottom hose clamp could probably get away with just removing the oil filter cover (36mm socket) to gain enough access to remove the hose clamp.

Thanks FCW. Is there a specific part number I can get off the likes of Ebay? Or do I need to go to Dealer? It's a 2006 S40 2.4 Sport SE.
