Default Pollen filter advice

I need to change the pollen filter in my V50 2010 model

Volvo refuse to do it without having a full service at the same time and my regular garage wont do it as it's a family member and hes a big bloke and he not as agile anymore so he wont be able to get to it.

I'm going to have to do it myself. I have looked at the guides on here but before I start could someone please tell me what tools I will need.

Thanks.

You will need a 13mm DEEP socket to remove the bracket at the back and maybe small spanner or socket to undo the housing, but i believe the newer cars like yours were fitted with wing nuts on the housing.

Hi most people find my guide ok to follow, it's not a difficult job just a bit annoying.

The bigger you are the more difficult you will find it to contort yourself into the footwell/bulkhead space.

No special tools needed other than 13mm socket (on an extension bar helps) and 7mm? mini socket for the filter access door.

You need to get back to your dealer , they can't refuse to do a job ! The cost should be no more than the standard time of 20 minutes .... £40 - £ 50 ...

If you don't know how to do it , it will be well worth the cost . You do not have to take out the white CEM bracket ... You can easily bend the pollen filter around it as you withdraw it if you bend the R/H arm of the bracket away from the heater casing , then bend in back after . No it won't break off ...

Clan! that's the dirty way! tut tut.....

Good shout though, that'll save a lot of time and to be fair the filters squish down a lot to get past stuff that's in the way.

I've followed Welton's guide (cheers mate!) and managed it.

My advice would be to get a nice long extension bar, made it a lot easier to get the CEM bracket bolts off.
