Default Which Winter tyres to fit.

So. Having recently bought my ex company car I have sourced a complete set of 19 inch wheels and summer tyres secondhand from a main dealer.

I am going to remove the summer tyres and fit some winters to the second set of rims.

So any recommendations on which tyres to buy? It is currently between the Nokian at 185 quid ea. and the Conti TS850 at 175 quid ea. Any thoughts?

Please dont recommend cross climates as I am weded to the idea of a second set.....

Thanks!

Nokians, every time.
Used them for many years.
Within a week of getting the V90, a set of winters were fitted and they stay on 365.

Have you tried https://www.oponeo.co.uk/?msclkid=69...content=Oponeo for price?

conti Is the benchmark winter tyre so you can’t go wrong with it. Very rarely a tyre comes up that can beat it on more than one category. It just does really well across the board and even holds up well in the dry. Winters don’t have the noise complaints that you get with summers. But both will be good enough for performance you will have to decide on noise economy or other bits that are important to you.

I used to run Avon winter tyres. Have to say that I purchased Michelin cross climates and for the first time I have gone all season.

Cross climates are excellent with no compromise in most conditions.

In the winter they are not far of winter.

I would not run 2 sets unless I was in Inverness etc. By the time you run out of drive on cross climates all the roads will be shut.

One thing to consider when fitting winters, is the speed and load rating.
These are the Nokian that I fitted to the V90 and the ratings are more than adequate:

I can wholeheartedly recommend Vredestein Wintrac Pro. I ran these for 3 years on my Navara and they where fantastic. They are quiet, give really great grip in both wet and icy conditions and the wear rate was fine they will probably do a fourth winter for the new owner.

Yes, a very good make.
I once had to fit Vredestein, when Nokian were not available, but they are normally more expensive.

Nokia’s for me every time - excellent winter grip, low wear levels, very quiet.

Very happy with my Conti TS850 winters. Noticeably quieter than the summer Pirellis.
