+1 for Nokians. I ran them on my first 2 XC60’s and was very impressed with them.

Our Toyota has Conti's, I believe it's now the TS860. Very satisfied.
The XC90 has Dunlop Winter Sport tyres. Also very good.

I use to always use Nokian WR SUV 4 (CC72) but found that the wear on the last two sets was relatively high. (I have had a XC90 in various forms for 11 years and done 250K miles).

This year switched to Dunlop Winter Sport 5 (BB70) for £180 a corner. Very pleased. Minimal wear over November to March usage. Great in the Alps. Not much really poor weather here but sound and grip seem OK.

Clearly all my perception but as you will need 235/55R19 there is little in the price for any of the brands quoted.

You guys are mad going through the cost of a second set of wheels and tyres etc when the like of cross climates are available.

I speak as someone who always ran winter and summer in the past.

Never too early,
Jogs memories, for those who are thinking about buying winters, as they are cheap just now.
Come the first fall of snow, then the price can increase rapidly.

OK XC90Mk1 I'll bite.

I have 22in original wheels for which the 275/35R22 size does not exist for crossclimates. I like the look and they drive smoothly.

For winter I have 19in Volvo wheels with 235/55R19. Better for snow as narrower.

Have not truly noticed the difference in profile.

So I do have a reason to have both.

Hope you are enjoying it Ringthane (sweet or salty?)

Thanks. I had some Vreds on my other half's CMax at the time and they were excellent. So I then put some Wintrac Pros on my A6 and was really disappointed. They couldnt even hold me on line driving in 2inches of fresh snow across a car park. So kind of been put off Vreds for the moment.
