Recomend a garage
In this day and age its getting harder and harder to find garages that have any understanding of older cars. You know the story you go in and say its not running right and the young lad says hold on mo. He then comes back with his scan tool and after a while looking askes you where the OBD port is. LOL
The idea of this thread to to get together a list of garages that can do basic work on our classics and also a list of specialist for services such as carb tuning, gearbox repairs, steering box repairs etc. Once the list starts to fill out I will complie the list into regions as posts can not be edited. I will ask a mod to make that post a sticky in this section Clearly a disclaimer will be needed on the main post but the idea is just to help owners get in touch with the right garages |

BATH/BRISTOL/SOMERSET/WILTSHIRE
ENGINE / MOT: We lucked into finding Jim Morris at Weston Garages, Bath – he worked on Amazons during the 1960s and 70s, and really sorted out our '64 122s when it had tank / fuel pump / twin SU carb issues. He's an old school mech and knows what he's doing. We'll be using him for all of our mechanical / MOT / servicing needs from now on. WESTON GARAGES, Bath BA1 4BX 01225 421309 WINDSCREENS: A Scottish guy named Ian who works at National Windscreens in Bath is taking on sorting our front and rear screens, including the trims. He's already had experience with Amazons, as he took out fellow Bath owner Jamie's screens, and knows his classics. For replacing the front screen rubber and putting the trims in, and doing the back screen, it's going to be the standard price of £150 + VAT. Ask for Brad when you ring up and he'll book it in... 4, Stable Yard, Windsor Bridge Rd, Avon, Bath BA2 3AY 01225 459497 ELECTRICS: We heartily recommend Julian at Coombened Auto Electrical in Radstock, a lovely fella who sorted out all of the outstanding issues (flasher circuit, wiring up the reversing light, running lights, instrument lights, tidying wiring loom, wiring in the spare 'front of rad' fan to a pull switch) for just £80. Julian knows his classics, and his youngest son has already rebuilt the carbs on a '70s Mini Clubman! Coombend House, Coomb End, Radstock BA3 3AT 01761 434319 UPHOLSTERY / INTERIOR: We had our front seats resewn to a very high standard by Chris at Equinox Custom Interiors in Keynsham for £150, and he also made up a windlace of excellent quality for just £50. Chris and his wife Clare are really big classic car nuts, and he has decades of experience in upholstery. When we get some extra cash, he'll be doing our headlining. I would recommend iur Dai Brace. When I bought my P1800e, I was in quite a bjt of strife with various garages and bodyshops spanning the Northwest and North East UK.
