Got fed up with the thick layer of mud I was collecting down the sills when I drove down to my grand-daughter's horse. So I fitted four non-genuine mudflaps (total £18). They come with clips but I drilled them to fit the wheel arch liner bolts. Good result. (Why are the bolts on the front 10mm heads, while they are 8mm on the back?)

Maybe Volvo thought the back would be less likely to seize than the front 'cos the front splashes most of the crud away before the back gets there?

Spent an hour trying to find a couple of 30803472 struts and decided to avoid a pair of random OEM ones for under £20, and avoided paying £24 for the same Magnetti Marelli I got last time as I wasn't 100% convinced they were strong enough, so I bought these TUV approved ones for £25.

Still better than paying £80 for a pair of genuine Volvo... and that's with the FRF discount!!!!!

Fitted the USB socket for the Grom in the driver's left leg carpet panel

Photos to follow later once I've shoved it in place

Let us know what the struts are like, bm. Mine are on their last legs and need doing too.

The chap I brought the leather seats and door cards from, I also grabbed the plastics that run down either side of the interior of the car. Was in better nick than mine, so a quick clean and fitted. I got the wood effect gear knob surround and glove box, so that swapped also. Next job is going to be using the 'Farecla' G6 paste compound to try and get the paintwork in better condition. I've been seeing a few things on youtube using a claybar on paintwork. Has anyone ever used this stuff and have any input on using this method?

Get a decent claybar and follow the instructions. plenty of info on the net on how to use. You will be amazed at how much muck come off and how smooth the paint will be before polishing.

When I bought my V40 it had lived on the street for 7 years with a weekly wash through an automatic car wash. The paint was like course sand paper. A quick claybar followed by a hand polish with Farecla G10 followed by Poorboys White Diamond followed by Poorboys Nattys Paste Wax. All in all took one day to polish and now the paint is a smooth as a silk stocking on a nubile thigh.

I thought you were about to say, you had the horse put down, to save the Volvo!
