Default Radio signal really poor on DAB and FM in V90

Seem to be having real issues with the radio recently. Cant work out if its just a local thing or my car but been out in my other half motor today and getting good signal on the DAB so thing its something with the car.

Just thinking of what the cause could be? Not even sure where the signal is picked up but i thought it was somewhere on the windscreen and the shark fin is just for the hell of it? Anyone got and bright ideas or history of similar issues?

Could be a bad connection from the aerial to the head unit. Only Volvo or a good ICE shop could test this properly.

PS Do you have some elements on your rear left side window (the one in the boot area), I noticed I have these on the left but not the right. I suspect they are associated with an aerial but no idea what they serve

Yer, fairly sure these are heater elements tho with the rear screen demister. I suppose your not going to look out the back right, at least in a right hand drive so they don't bother. Imagine it's the other way round on a left hand drive but may e totally wrong

They are not heaters. That’s the antenna for DAB. The top fin is for navigation.

A combined antenna for DAB and FM perhaps?

Ah interesting. Well at least this gives me somewhere to start. I'll have a little squint and see what's going on with the connections that end

Cheap phone chargers cause radio interference. Same for dashcams.

Mad. Totally mad!! So, just been out and when looking at the library for dab Stations the screen is pulsing, like the stations all grey out then come back, once a second sort of rate. Put fm on and you can almost hear the pulsing through the white noise. I cant find hardly any channels on FM.

So, tried disconnecting the charger from the armrest USB (nothing actually connected when this is happening) but no change. Decided to check all power points and realised I had left a little battery charger for my camera still plugged in in the boot 9v output. Took it out and its all fine.

I might be being a bit thick here, but what! How bad is this car wired/softwared up that this is affecting the whole infotainment so badly? Does this happen in other makes? Never ever had this and used the same charge in my previous car (honda) with no such issues
