Well... no. It's 8.1s for the XC60 D4 AWD and 8.1s for the FWD version.

FWD does have slightly lower CO2 emissions - I give you that - but if you don't need an SUV (ie. AWD, increased ground clearance, etc), than there's much cleaner options out there. Same applies to the "less costly" part. Besides- we're talking a €50K+ vehicle - the price difference for an AWD version is insignificant.. Efficient? What is efficient? MPG and performance figures are identical for AWD/FWD cars. For quicker- see above.

Just sayin'

You see? i knew you would give me reason

But not only here. I can guarantee you the fwd is more efficient. I don't know if by 0,1 or 0,01 or 0,001, don't ask me, but the fwd version makes less comsunption for sure.

About price... well of course it all depends...but in my country the difference from awd to fwd is almost 5000 euros. It all depends of which country we're refering to. Performance ... well i give you that...same if we're talking about OEM. Mine has Polestar...so is quicker. Well maybe a little but it is. What more?

" an SUV (ie. AWD, increased ground clearance, etc)"

You define SUV has having specific and typical characteristics such increased ground clearance, yes i agree it's one, and... AWD. Being AWD defines a SUV? FWD doesn't? I understood your explanation some days ago...that makes more sense to have a SUV awd in certain conditions (Otherwise the market wouldn't ask for a FWD,seem obvious) because it adds more grip and is a safer drive...even so...what does AWD have to do with being or not a SUV? You should have eliminate it from what defines a SUV and why people look for a SUV... because just like i said and others already said...if there wasn't market for a fwd they wouldn't exist pure and simple.

Have a nice day my friend (:

Well... what do you need the increased ground clearance for?.. To go over things normal cars can't, right? Would you agree AWD helps going over things? But maybe it's me.. I bought an SUV ONLY for (occasional..) offroad/deep snow driving. For my city/paved road driving high ground clearance is actually a disadvantage..

Saúde!

Honestly we got the XC60 because of the seating position. We were between the XC60 and the V60, but going between our Defender and Volvo V50 right now takes a bit of getting used to so we thought it would be easier swapping between the Defender and the XC60.

I'm sure it's capable enough, but I doubt most people buy an XC60 for off-road duty.

I would guess, that the history of SUVs is that they started out being solely AWD/4WD. But then it was clear that there was a market for the SUV 'look' but at a cheaper price point, and all other things aside 2WD is inherently cheaper than 4WD/AWD. And if a car manufacturer identifies a market that they can address with an existing platform, and hence get more sales to recoup design costs, you can be sure they will do so.

That's a LOT of money for a high seating position.. Minivan, at 1/3 of the price, anyone?..

i agree with all... but you're forgetting an important aspect... if you have said 4x4 ok i would sign immediately below your signature...but awd is different than 4*4. And your comment the argument you used of going over things...it's more a 4by4 that you might be talking about.

It seems Haldex bought...at least only (occasional), occasional (only)
