Default Problems with HID

Low beam lights have two functions.
1 - with half the voltage is used as parking lights.
2 - at full power is used as the low beam light.
I have two T10 from parking in the parables.

With HID lights I will not 'stop using the lights.
Is there any change to remove this feature and to use the other two T10 parking lights as the position?

Grazie!!

I take it you are retro fitting HID's?

If so, is it a proper kit - replacing the headlights with projector units and glear glass lenses, or is it simply the "Bulb" replacement?

Default Half power head lights

You can turn off the day running lights which will stop the half power head lights. The head light bulbs are H1 in both dip and main beam. Check with the authorities as to wether you can fit HID lights legally, they are illegal in the UK and some EU countries. They can only be fitted from new or as a full retro fit, which must include self leveling head light units and /or self leveling suspension. The pressed ribs in the glass of the standard headlamps which focuses the light beams will cause the HID light to scatter and dazzel other road users.

This is true the 940 has H4 and H3 so did the early 960s. Our italian friend has a 1996 960 estate which has H1 in both dip and main beam and H3 in the fog lights. I think the T10 bulbs he refers to are 501s. Rather than mess about with HID kits with all the problems and dubious legality, I would fit a full set of Osram Night Breakers which I have found most satifactory for night driving. These can be found on the net for less than £10 per pair.

That's exactly what I've just done to my 940, they do seem much better. I can see why the OP wants HIDs though, I've had cars with two H1s before and I cursed the designer every time I went out in the dark, even with Silverstars they weren't very good.

if you have hids- you need to remove the dim dip relay. If my memories correct, Its one of the blue hella relays in the fuse box. Try with a halogen bulb and it will de-activate it if you pull the correct one.
HIDs are ok on the 940- I have them
Ive had no issues with MOTs or police, as long as the ballasts are hidden (mine are between the front bumper and the slam panel siliconed to the panel) The MOT-ers generally dont pick on it, helps if you buy them a beer or 2 when you pick the car up.
Projector headights are like hens teeth... But the projecting pattern on the glass is absolutley fine.

I also replaced the t21 (21w) bulbs with white led bulbs from autoleds. They look excellent and with 5000k bulbs, blend in fine.
